Help build an orphanage in India - CHILD Children Home

Dear friends and good hearted people! I am turning to you with an appeal to help with the construction of an orphanage in Chennai, India, where I have volunteered as an English teacher.

CHILD – Children Home is a registered trust – an NGO which is involved in providing for the needs of the orphans and abandoned children of HIV positive parents since 2005.

Currently they are living in a small rented house where the rooms are classrooms and offices by day and bedrooms by night. At the moment there are 15 boys in the orphanage so it is really crowded. Because of this and with a wish to help even more children they are building a new building. They have a lot of recurring costs for food, clothing, school expenses, so they need financial support for this project.

DSC07317I have spent around seven weeks in the organisation as a volunteer, teaching English. I have experienced first hand that they are treating the kids as their own with a lot of love and support. They give great meaning to education and mutual support, so the children have really good marks and are keen on helping each other. The most fascinating thing is that even though they do not have a lot of material goods they are deeply grateful for what they have and they face the daily challenges with a smile on their faces.

Please take a moment and look at some of the photos I have taken when I was there. There you can also find their appeal for help, plan of the building and specific costs regarding the construction: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/vmvjsd7yv3pqnty/eqbFLCo85x

Please also take a look at their webpage: http://www.childin.org/ and their Fcebook account: https://www.facebook.com/child.home.3

For the whole building they need approximately 5.000.000 Indian rupees, which is about 72.000 EUR. You can help with sponsoring a part of the house which has 3204 sq. feet. You can donate for one sq. feet which is about 1.500 Indian rupees, which is approximately 22 EUR. You can also donate for a couple of sq. feet or you can even sponsor a whole room. In any case they will also be happy for donations for recurring monthly costs: food, clothing, tuition... I know that the economy is not in a good state but it is very important that we do not forget about the people in need around us and we help them the best way we can. In Europe 22 EUR can be spent relatively quickly that is why I believe that that anyone is capable of a small donation for a good cause.
